KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Gen. Ellen M. Pawlikowski, Air Force Materiel Command commander, recently visited and provided an update on the 2017 AFMC Strategic Plan during a Commander’s Call held for Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center and the Air Force Research Laboratory personnel.

“Thank you for what you do,” Pawlikowski said. “It makes me proud to be a part of Air Force Materiel Command.”

The general spoke about AFMC’s updated strategic plan, and outlined its goals of 1) strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness and resiliency of the workforce; 2) increasing agility to improve AFMC support to the Air Force enterprise; 3) driving cost-effectiveness into the capabilities we provide; and, 4) rapidly developing, transitioning and deploying technology to assure our warfighting advantage.

She also encouraged new and innovative thinking that will lead the command to continued success.

“The future relies on our employees,” the general said, “and they must understand any and all ideas are welcomed, as long as they help AFMC’s mission of saving time and money.”

Throughout the call, Pawlikowski emphasized that AFMC’s success relies on teamwork, and working together to achieve the goals and objectives of the 2017 strategic plan.

“This ensures that the United States Air Force will always be ready and able to respond with effective Global Vigilance, Global Reach and Global Power,” she said.

The general also said it is important to understand how adversaries are continually trying to recreate and surpass our current capabilities.

“Our guard must never be let down and the vigilant work must continue,” Pawlikowski said, as she highlighted many initiatives both AFNWC and AFRL are pursuing and accomplishing.

The AFMC commander also discussed new Air Force leadership and its focus areas, to include things ranging from military modernization to teamwork with joint partners and cost-effective innovation designed to empower Air Force capabilities. These things, she said, impact not only AFMC, but also the entire Air Force enterprise.

Pawlikowski recognized three AFMC individuals assigned to Kirtland, and gave each her coin for their exceptional teamwork within the command. Leah Bryant, AFNWC Public Affairs chief; Megan Burton, deputy program manager for SHiELD, AFRL Laser Applications Branch; and Jennifer Fraenzl, aerospace engineer, AFRL Space Experiments and Programs Branch were called to the stage for the coin presentation.
