President Joseph Biden nominated Brig. Gen. Anthony Genatempo, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center commander, for promotion to the rank of major general.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced his nomination Feb. 24, along with dozens of other generals and flag officers who were nominated for promotion by the president.

Genatempo has served as commander of the center, and as the Air Force program executive officer for strategic systems, since June 2020. He leads more than 1,800 personnel at 18 locations worldwide in the lifecycle management of nuclear weapons systems, supporting two legs of the nation’s nuclear triad.

The general entered the Air Force in 1991 through the Rutgers University ROTC program. He is a career acquisition professional and has served in numerous program management and senior leader positions. Prior to his current position, he was the Air Force program executive officer for weapons and director of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Armament Directorate at Eglin AFB, Florida.

He is also a graduate of the Air Force Legislative Fellows Program, where he served as a military legislative assistant for the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
