Colonel PETER R. McWILLIAM

Col. Peter R. McWilliam is the acting Deputy Commander, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. The center is responsible for the lifecycle management of nuclear weapons systems supporting two legs of the nation’s nuclear triad, including intercontinental ballistic missiles; air-launched cruise missiles; gravity bombs; and nuclear command, control and communications integration.

Prior to this assignment, Col. McWilliam served as the Inspector General, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. His duties included conducting inspections and resolving complaints at the lowest possible level within the organization on behalf of the Commander, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. The fulfillment of these duties enables the Commander to determine the unit’s readiness, economy, efficiency, state of discipline and effectiveness in executing its assigned mission.

As a command pilot, he has amassed over 4,900 hours and 2,000 combat hours in the C-146A, U-28A, PC-12 and C-130H3 aircraft. Col. McWilliam has served on multiple combat deployments in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM; Horn of Africa, Trans Sahara, Southeast Asia, Caribbean, Central/South America and other worldwide contingencies.
