Brigadier General WILLIAM S. ROGERS Brig. Gen. William S. Rogers is the Commander, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC). He is also the Director of the AFNWC ICBM Systems Directorate. The center is responsible for the lifecycle management of nuclear weapons systems supporting two legs of the nation’s nuclear triad, including intercontinental ballistic missiles, air-launched cruise missiles, gravity bombs, nuclear certification, and nuclear command-and-control communications systems. The center synchronizes all of Air Force Materiel Command’s nuclear materiel management in support of Air Force Global Strike Command and United States Air Forces in Europe. In addition, Brig. Gen. Rogers is the Program Executive Officer (PEO) for ICBMs with responsibility for inception-to-retirement integrated weapons system management of the current Minuteman III (LGM-30) ICBM, future Sentinel (LGM-35) ICBM and other enabling capabilities. Brig. Gen. Rogers received his commission in 1997 from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is an acquisition program manager who served in programs for the Global Positioning System Upgraded Early Warning Radar, Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System, F-35 Lightning II, and Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System Recapitalization. He was stationed at the Pentagon, where he served as the KC-X/KC-46 Program Element Monitor and as Chief of Acquisition Policy in the Executive Action Group for the Air Force’s Secretary and Chief of Staff. He also served as the Senior Materiel Leader of the Survivable Airborne Operations Division, Digital Directorate, at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. He has served in a variety of line and staff positions in operational test, planning and program management across a spectrum of weapons systems in aircraft, command and control, and space at the directorate, detachment, center and air staff levels. Prior to this assignment, Brig. Gen. Rogers served as the PEO for Bombers, Bombers Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He was responsible for the modernization and sustainment of the bombers portfolio, which includes the B-1, B-2 and B-52. He was also responsible for organizing, training and equipping the B-21 System Program Office.
