Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Logistics Management Specialist to work in the Sentinel Systems Directorate at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah.

This position (986508) is an NH-0346-03, which has a typical 2024 salary range of $86,962-$134,435.
 
This position is not eligible for remote or full-time telework; situational-based agreements may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager.
 
The Sentinel program is an ACAT ID major defense acquisition program charged to deliver a full system replacement for the nation’s Minuteman III (MMIII) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System, providing a strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. This position is integral to the success of the Sentinel weapon system and the continued support of one leg of the nation’s nuclear triad.  The Sentinel weapon system, when fielded, will continue the critical national strategic deterrence role currently performed by the legacy (MMIII) Inter-continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System.
 
Logistics Management Specialists in AFNWC solve highly complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence.  Employees will be part of a dynamic product support team and will be expected to operate at a high-performance pace and develop and maintain a radical teaming-centric culture. 
 
The primary purpose of this position (986508) is to serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Sentinel’s Launch Systems Branch, Command and Launch Division.
 
DUTIES:
  • Provides critical logistics support to the Launch Systems Branch’s Integrated Product Teams by utilizing all available resources to meet mission needs.
  • Manages, monitors, and evaluates planning and execution of the 12 Integrated Logistics Elements to support the Launch Systems Branch and Command & Launch Division as needed.
  • Applies Department of Defense Life Cycle Logistics methodology to ensure effective and efficient sustainment for Launch Systems and Physical Security Systems aspects of the Sentinel weapon system.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the branch’s logistics activities, ensuring operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer requirements.
  • Analyzes interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity, developing resolutions to solve problems and applying logistics support principles through varied phases of the life cycle.
  • Serves as a liaison between Sentinel Command and Launch senior logistician and multiple stakeholders to ensure the 12 Integrated Logistics Elements are properly implemented.
 
SKILLS:
  • Three (3) or more years of progressively complex life-cycle logistics management is typically preferred.
  • Experience in ACAT I acquisition; working knowledge of DoD Directive 5000.01 The Defense Acquisition System is highly desirable.
  • Experience in implementing the 12 Integrated Logistics Elements is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) Phase execution, and a key player role in Critical Design Review (CDR) are desirable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with demonstrated experience influencing and collaborating in a diverse team environment that includes external functional and program stakeholders is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly valued. A master’s degree in business is preferred.
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE):
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. 
  • Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Life Cycle Logistics “Foundational” Level certification within 36 months of appointment.
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an Office of Government Ethics (OGE) Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
