Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Integration Directorate (AFNWC/NC) is seeking two full-time NH-801-03, Non-Supervisory General Engineers (009795931M, 009891611M) to work in the Global Aircrew Alerting Strategic Network Terminal (Global ASNT) and Senior Leader Networks  (SLN) program offices at Hanscom Air Force Base MA. This advertisement may be used to fill other vacancies. These positions are NH-0801-03 which have a typical 2025 salary range of $100,371 - $155,164. (locality included). Work is performed on-site at Hanscom AFB, MA.
 
Acquisition Program Description:
Global ASNT is an Acquisition Category (ACAT) II program employing an incremental strategy to deliver the required capabilities to the warfighter. The Global ASNT provides 24-hour, 7-day per week survivable, redundant communication links for Command and Control (C2) of the United States nuclear forces by the President through the National Military Command System (NMCS), with advice from the Secretary of Defense, Combatant Commanders and associated senior leadership.
SLN is an ACAT III program with National Leadership and Defense Department visibility due to the critical communications capabilities it provides to its customers.
 
Major duties:
  • Performs multidisciplinary engineering work involving the application of electrical, electronics, mechanical, aerospace, digital engineering, and other engineering disciplines to determine the technical and business needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of the systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product.
  • Coordinates the various phases of work with other functional disciplines and interprets/translates engineering requirements into design characteristics and criteria.
  • Formulates and explains recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques.
  • Evaluates performance with respect to program requirements, evaluates design changes to assess effects on performance
  • Coordinates special studies on design changes, recommends solutions to technical problems, and recommends different engineering approaches through the development phase and into production.
  • Evaluates, identifies, and implements value-added Digital Materiel Management (DMM) initiatives in support of the Department of the Air Forces DMM vision and Building Code. 
Skill sets that are highly desired for this position:
  • Strong background in NC3 mission execution and/or systems acquisition, Digital Engineering principles, regulations and policies to include Model Based System Engineering methodologies.
  • Experience in applying systems engineering principles to NC3 systems to include radios, radio frequency (RF) networks, IP networks, or other communications systems.
  • Experience working with extended and geographically dispersed teams, to include multiple Government, Industry, FFRDC, UARC and DoD research lab organizations.  
  • Experience working with Science & Technology and Research & Development projects.
  • Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
  • Effective communication, organizational skills with demonstrated experience in leading in a diverse team environment.
Requirements for the Position:
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP
  • Must be TS/SCI eligible; this position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Active TS/SCI or TS clearance preferred. Please include current clearance level in your resume.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).  Selected candidate must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act requirements applicable to the duties of the position.  Current Engineering & Technical Management (ETM) Practitioner certification is desired. If not already certified as an ETM Practitioner, selected candidate is required to attain certification within 60 months of appointment.
