**IMPORTANT**
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking one full-time Director of Personnel to oversee the Directorate of Manpower and Personnel for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland Air Force Base near Albuquerque, NM.
This position is a NH-0301-04, which has a typical 2025 salary range of $125,882-$192,490 (range subject to change after 1 January 2026).
This position is to provide executive level advice and functional expertise to the Center Commander and senior management for all matters concerning manpower and personnel management and programs, to judiciously direct manpower and personnel actions, to provide effective guidance and direction to subordinate units, and to work toward attaining the highest level of workforce effectiveness while ensuring the Commander's visions and objectives are met for the Center, the customer, and the warfighter.
Duties:
- Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Personnel Directorate. As the Director, develops goals and objectives that integrate both organization and human resources objectives. Provides policy, planning, programming and resourcing guidance to counterpart elements within the Air Base Wing that execute force management programs. Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives and organization design for the Directorate staff, to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or responses to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirement. Must be knowledgeable of DOD, USAF, AFMC, and Center organizations programs, missions and functions to analyze and determine human resources and force management plans, programs, and initiatives to support customers' current and future requirements.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Knowledge of advanced human resources and force management principles, concepts, regulations, and practices, analytical methods and techniques are needed to resolve management problems not susceptible to treatment by standard methods.
- Represents the Personnel Directorate with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. As the Center Commander's senior advisor and authority for Manpower, Military Personnel, Civilian Personnel, Education and Training matters, The Director proactively establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with employees and management officials at all echelons of the Center. Proven ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
- Serves as a confidential advisor to the Commander for all matters related to personnel and manpower. Formulates and staffs alternative recommendations for the Command Section regarding such matters as strategic planning, sourcing and workforce shaping, program allocation and control, force and leadership development, workforce effectiveness, manpower and related POM development, senior officer and civilian management and collective bargaining/partnership. Knowledge of personnel safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
- The Director of Personnel acts as the expert consultant for the Center on strategic force management planning. In this capacity, the director participates in, and represents the Center's manpower, military and civilian personnel offices and advises the Command Section on the status of significant problems or issues, as well as program opportunities or developments.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
