Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory General Engineer to work in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate, Minuteman III (MMIII) Systems Division at Hill Air Force Base, UT.
This position (286094) is a NH-801-03, which has a typical 2025 salary range of $88,621 - $137,000.
The fundamental mission of MMIII is to stand as a strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. This supervisory engineering position serves the Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle (RS/RV) Branch in sustaining the MMIII Weapon System. The RS/RV Branch is a highly functioning and cohesive team that welcomes individuals with initiative and desire to support our Nation’s tip-of-the-spear mission of strategic deterrence.
DUTIES:
- Serves as a first-line engineer supervisor for MMIII RS/RV Branch.
- Provides expertise on technical design, acquisition, test, and operational issues related to requirements, systems engineering, performance, and schedule trade-offs for the entire MMIII RS/RV portfolio.
- Maintains Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) for RS/RV assets.
- Evaluate operational system key performance parameters (KPPs) of availability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Partners with Division leadership, Senior Engineers, and geographically diverse stakeholders to develop strategic and tactical plans.
- Manages engineering workloads and mentors employee career development.
- Identifies, recruits, assesses, and hires qualified engineering candidates.
- Generates and coordinates technical data for meetings of various levels within the Directorate.
- Reviews and evaluates contribution plans and performance assessments (AcqDemo).
- Answers day-to-day inquiries to “clear the road” for working level personnel.
- Coordinates and chairs Engineering Review Boards.
- Various other duties as assigned from Branch level leadership.
- Organizes and conducts technical training.
- Addresses daily taskings assigned from Division level.
SKILLS:
- At least 5 years Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) or relevant engineering experience is highly desired.
- Strong background with leading a diverse team of engineers is highly desired.
- Demonstrated experience in oral and written communication skills, being proactive and self-motivated, and having strong interpersonal and organizational skills is highly preferred.
- Ability to resolve issues ranging from personnel inquiries and performance, leadership directives, and other mission requirements is highly valued.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance access and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

- Employee may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
- Employee may be required to work overtime or an irregular work shift.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
