The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking to fill a full-time Aerospace Engineer position in the Air Launched Cruise Missile Program Office, Missile Sustainment Division at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
This position is an NH-0861-03 which has a typical 2025 salary range of $88,621 to $137,000 (including locality rate of 17.06%).
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
In this position, you will serve as the Aerospace Engineer in support of the acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. Primary responsibilities include leading and collaborating within a diverse, multi-disciplined team of government employees and/or contractors in developing, integrating, and implementing technical solutions, mitigating technical risks, promoting teamwork, and solving organizational issues to sustain reliability of the Air Launched Cruise Missile.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Apply innovative engineering practices, techniques, and methodology to identify, analyze, and resolve issues; ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and any existing policies and procedures; research, analyze, and determine available options or the feasibility of different advanced approaches to resolve complex program issues.
- Evaluate technological trends and formulate overall design concepts and criteria to establish the baseline for state-of-the-art engineering developments.
- Present briefings and develop technical reports to document progress and results; prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action.
- Serve as the technical expert for the organization and provide status and advisory services to leadership on problems, issues, and projects in assigned program areas.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of professional aerospace engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
- Knowledge of data analysis, development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
- Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles, systems, equipment, and components.
- Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain DoW Secret security clearance.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
- Journey-level engineer with minimum of 5 years of government experience preferred.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
