Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking two
full-time Logistics Management Specialists to work in the Minuteman III (MMIII) Systems Division, Propulsion Branch at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah.

MMIII Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System is the active strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. The MMIII Systems Division ensures that the ground-based leg of America’s nuclear triad is “Never Doubted – Always Feared.”
The primary purpose of these positions is to serve as a Life Cycle Logistician (346) within the MMIII Propulsion Branch, supports Working Group(s) with stakeholders from multiple organizations, and manage cradle to grave life cycle logistics for assigned programs.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating the total cradle-to-grave life cycle cost, schedule, performance, and logistics support for assigned systems or subsystems, integrating separate functions of supply, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into program activities required to sustain the system.
- Ensures adequate logistics coverage is provided in all planning and programming documents, facilitates requirements generation, develops/updates appropriate logistics and acquisition/sustainment strategy documents.
- Establishes milestones and monitors execution throughout the project to ensure schedules are met, deficiencies are identified, and required adjustments completed.
- Provides critical support to the Propulsion Integrated Product Team and Propulsion Branch 1st Line Supervisor by utilizing all available resources to meet mission needs.
- Serves as the logistics technical advisor on contracts. Develops comprehensive logistics evaluation criteria to measure contractor progress in meeting program objectives. Participates in contract administration ensuring compliance with contractual processes, procedures, and schedules.
- Assumes a leadership role and performs Working Group lead functions to organize multiple organizational entities into an integrated and cohesive team.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; possesses independence, assertiveness, self-reliance, and tenacity to get the job done.
- Applies Department of Defense (DoD) Life Cycle Logistics methodology to ensure effective and efficient sustainment for Propulsion aspects of the MMIII weapon system.
SKILLS:
- Familiarity with the nuclear enterprise, preferably with MMIII Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, is desired.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required to interact with team members and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of logistics program management, professional engineering principals, managerial support initiatives, acquisition policy and procedures, planning, programming and budgeting systems, contracting procedures and Air Force resource allocation procedures is highly desired.
- Knowledge of the applicable principles, concepts, policies, and laws; functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve problems; and all aspects of support.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and the ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, and evaluate options.
- Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
- Strong Logistics Management background, as applied to DoD acquisition programs, is desired.
- Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing.

- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employees must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Life Cycle Logistics “Foundational” Level certification within 36 months of appointment.
