Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking an Acquisition Program Management Specialist to work in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate, Minuteman III (MMIII) Systems Program Office, MMIII Guidance Branch, Guidance Sustainment Section at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah.
This position (176277) is an NH-1101-03 which has a typical 2026 salary range of $89,508 - $138,370.

The AFNWC ICBM Systems Directorate, MMIII Systems Program Office manages the integrated life-cycle activities of the LGM-30G MMIII ICBM. The MMIII Systems Program Office faces the challenge of sustaining a 50-year-old weapon system until it is replaced by the Sentinel ICBM.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Acquisition Program Management Specialist in the AFNWC MMIII Guidance Branch, Sustainment Section, which directly oversees $4.1B of contracts responsible for the repair and sustainment of the MMIII Missile Guidance Set (MGS).
Program Management Specialists in AFNWC are business professionals who solve highly complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence. They decide what needs to be done, make sure it happens, and solve the most complex, high-risk aspects of an ICBM program - the ground-based leg of America’s Nuclear Triad.
RANGE OF DUTIES:
- Develops accurate project scope and cost estimates to support MMIII program-level Cost Analysis Requirements Document (CARD), Program Office Estimates (POE), Program Objective Memorandum (POM), and Presidential Budget (PB) submissions.
- Leads multiple project teams to accurately plan, track, and report funds execution in Comprehensive Cost and Requirement (CCaR) system; develops, coordinates, submits, and monitors expenditures of Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs).
- Proactively develops and presents technical and programmatic briefings and reports to leaders and Senior Executives regarding project development, design, construction, and execution.
- Leads a multi-disciplinary team, reviewing and assessing contractor work performance to include tracking progress, evaluating work products, supporting missions, and facilitating process development & improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with essential mission partners for effective MMIII warfighter support, providing serviceable MGS units where they are needed and when they are needed in support of America’s 24/7/365 nuclear deterrence mission.
- Leads the Identification, mitigation, and tracking of both weapon system and programmatic risks and issues.
- Responsible for multiple projects supporting the planning, programming, design, testing, refurbishment, documentation, and delivery of bespoke MMIII MGS test and support equipment stations.
- Engages daily with the prime contractor to understand and make decisions regarding program status.
Desired Skills:
- Three (3) years of experience in federal acquisition, program/project management, and/or life-cycle logistics for a Program Management Specialist role.
- Experience in planning, programming and execution of Operations and Management (3400), and Procurement (30XX) appropriations.
- Experience in financial planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of projects.
- Contract award, management, and evaluation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and execute programs in accordance with DoDI 5000.02, Operation of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework on ACAT I programs.
- DoD weapon system development and/or sustainment management experience.
- Strong background in risk management, schedule management, integrated baseline management, program management reviews, funding reviews, earned value management, Integrated Master Schedule, and document & process information control is preferred.

- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Acquisition Program Management Specialist “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
- In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
