Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist to serve as the Director of Logistics (LG) and Organizational Senior Functional (OSF) to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate (NI) and Air Force Program Executive Officer (AFPEO) ICBM at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, UT.   

This position (988496) is an NH-0346-04 which has a typical 2026 salary range of $125,776 - $192,331.

*This position is not eligible for remote or full time telework; situational-based agreements may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager.

The Director of Logistics serves as the logistics expert and advisor to the dual-hatted one-star Director (AFNWC/NI) and AFPEO for Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) who is responsible for the oversight and integration of a highly complex portfolio providing the backbone of nuclear deterrence for Air Force Global Strike Command through the LGM-30G Minuteman III and LGM-35A Sentinel program offices.  The Director of Logistics provides strategic planning and represents the Directorate with a variety of Life Cycle Logistics and Product Support functional organizations across the whole of the Air Force and US Government.  Serves as the expert advisor on all life cycle logistics and product support issues to the AFPEO and program office teams and provides executive level communications with other senior leaders on policies to resolve critical issues.  In addition, as the organizational senior functional (OSF) for logistics, this position is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping the Directorate’s logistics workforce, overseeing all aspects of career field management and development of over 250 logistics personnel.

MAJOR DUTIES:
This position plans, organizes, and oversees the product support activities of the ICBM Systems Directorate, ensuring that logistics management operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs by developing goals that integrate organization and logistics objectives.  In addition, this position establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design, as necessary, to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements. The Director of Logistics is the senior functional advisor to the Director and PEO providing guidance, advice and strategic decision support. This position will have significant visibility and engagement with HQ AFNWC staff, SAF/AQ, and multiple MAJCOM counterparts for logistics requirements generation and planning.  The successful candidate has a highly collaborative work style, with the ability to handle changing processes, lack of structure and other uncertainties that come with building a new organization.

Desired Requirements:
  • Specialized experience at the NH-04 or equivalent grade is required.  
  • Specialized experience must include leading teams and managing logistics life cycle management processes that support weapon system development and sustainment decisions for major acquisition programs.
  • Strong communication skills for distributing guidance and deadlines to subordinate units and then collecting/integrating disparate deliverables into a unified, timely and compliant response.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics regulations that support DoD weapon system acquisition, lifecycle sustainment plans and logistics health assessments.
  • Track record of promoting positive and productive work climate for direct reports and others.
  • Must have the logistics technical and career field knowledge to mentor and guide the logistics workforce.   
  • Advanced degree in related fields is desired but not required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • This position is designated as a critical acquisition position (CAP) and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).  The selected candidate must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act requirements applicable to the duties of the position. 
  • Employee must execute a written agreement to remain in Federal service in this position for at least three years.
  • Employee may be required to travel occasionally away from the normal duty station in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours, such as overtime or an irregular work shift.
