The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is seeking a full-time Information Technology Specialist (Weapon System Cybersecurity Specialist) to work in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate at Hill Air Force Base, near Layton, UT.
This NH-2210-03 position (020870) has a typical 2026 salary range of $89,508 - $138,370 (including locality adjustments).

The Next Generation Reentry Capabilities (NGRC) program is responsible for designing, developing, producing, and deploying new payload system suites and integrating them into the ICBM weapon system. This position will serve as a subject matter expert for integrating cyber survivability into the acquisition lifecycle of assigned weapon systems and supporting programs. The primary purpose is to provide technical leadership and government oversight to ensure the cyber survivability and resilience of the nation’s ICBM mission systems.
DUTIES:
- Serves as the Systems Security Engineer (SSE) for assigned systems/programs, providing technical expertise to integrate cyber survivability into the system via systems engineering, design, and Test and Evaluation processes.
- Serves as the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for assigned weapon systems/subsystems, supporting development and maintenance of the weapon system's Cybersecurity Strategy (CSS) and associated security documentation.
- Executes Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes from system categorization through obtaining and maintaining the Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Reviews and evaluates the development and implementation of advanced cybersecurity capabilities and specialized control identification, selection, and implementation required for assigned weapon systems/National Security Systems.
- Contributes to the development of technical plans to ensure cyber survivability integration across ICBM mission systems.
- Represents the organization as a weapon system cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) in technical and programmatic forums.
SKILLS:
- In-depth knowledge of Systems Security Engineering (SSE) principles and demonstrated ability in applying them to influence system design and oversee the identification, selection, and verification of security controls.
- Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process within a Department of War (DoW) acquisition environment, including the ability to manage a weapon system's security authorization package and conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
- Experience and technical knowledge with ICBM weapon system development and/or lifecycle management, technology maturation, science and technology innovation within the U.S. nuclear enterprise is preferred. Strong background in collateral, sensitive compartmental and special access program security program management is a plus.
- Skill in communicating complex, technical, and often controversial cybersecurity issues to a variety of audiences, including non-technical program leaders and contractor developers.
- Ability to provide authoritative technical oversight of contractor activities and advise program leadership on the implementation of mission-specific and advanced security controls for Weapon Systems/National Security Systems.

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
