Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is seeking one full-time Supervisory Acquisition Program Management Specialist to work in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate, Sentinel System Integration Segment (AFNWC/NIX-SI) located at Hill AFB, near Layton UT

This NH-1101-04 position (009862691M) has a typical 2026 salary range of $125,776 - $192,331 (Locality pay included).

The Sentinel program is a major defense acquisition program charged to deliver a full system replacement for the nation’s Minuteman III ICBM, providing a strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Supervisory Acquisition Program Manager for the Sentinel System Integration Segment.  Join the AFNWC team to help modernize the Ground Based ICBM in support of strategic deterrence – a top Secretary of War priority.

DUTIES:
  • Works directly under the Integration Segment Senior Materiel Leader (SML).
  • Assists the SML in leading integration of mission critical activities and events during technical maturation and risk reductions (TMRR) and engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) acquisition phases for the weapon system.
  • Provides leadership guidance and oversees programmatic execution across the Integration Segment IPTs (Product Support, Mission Threads, Enterprise Software, Mission Assurance, and Training Systems).
  • Responsible to lead integration efforts and engage with extended and geographically dispersed stakeholders, including AFNWC, Air Force Global Strike Command, and senior DoW officials, to ensure Sentinel technical and programmatic activities are successfully planned, coordinated, and executed.
  • Leads technical/management exchanges and meetings attended by executive levels and key stakeholders to plan and execute oversight of all aspects of the weapon system lifecycle, to include directing team assignments, resolving technical issues, resolving resource and schedule conflicts, identify and mitigate risks, and direct technical and programmatic efforts.
  • Leads team members in development of innovative strategies, methods, and coordination within the engineering construct to achieve effective solutions. Maintains a high level of bi-lateral communication and effective teaming to achieve mission success.
  • Develops and presents technical and programmatic briefings and reports to senior executive leadership.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and background in acquisition program management, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering concepts, and agile development concepts of critical weapon systems
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, including skills in developing (written) and presenting (verbal) detailed briefings to senior leaders, to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels as well as the independence, assertiveness, self-reliance, and tenacity to get the job done
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead critical aspects of directorate wide efforts and integrate, analyze, and manage a variety of efforts in support of the process 
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Experience with and knowledge in the areas of ICBM weapon product support, such as maintainability, lifecycle management, Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P), national industrial base, quality assurance, QMS, supply chain, GIDEP, supply chain risk management, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Materiel Shortages (DMSMS), manufacturing readiness, contract administration, inventory control, support equipment management, Packaging, Storage, Handling and Transportation (PSHT), counterfeit parts prevention/management, technical orders and configuration management
  • Strong technical skills and experience with progressively complex professional engineering principles and systems engineering that include evaluating risks and identifying technical gaps for a large, complex, high-dollar program is highly desired. 
  • Breadth and depth of experience in integrating systems engineering efforts from multiple teams and the ability to grasp extremely challenging technical concepts and provide solutions when needed within an enterprise
  • Strong background working ACAT l or equivalent programs with the understanding and knowledge to implement the government acquisition process in accordance with DoDI 5000.02, Operation of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework
  • Skill in collaborating and integrating with high level Air Force, Navy, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Missile Defense Agency, and other DoD organizations
  • Experience in collateral, sensitive compartmental and special access program security program management
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION (NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE):
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP
  • Must be TS/SCI eligible; this position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Active TS/SCI or TS clearance preferred. Please include current clearance level in your resume.
  • Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Program Management “Advanced” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an Office of Government Ethics (OGE) Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
