The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Security Specialist (001778301M) within the Missile Sustainment Division at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.

This position is an NH-0080-03 which has a typical 2026 salary range of $89,508 - $138,370 (with locality)

The primary purpose of this announcement is to fill the following position:  Security Specialist, supporting AFNWC as a multi-disciplinary subject matter expert providing advice and oversight for Information, Physical, Operational, Industrial, and Personnel Security programs while directly interfacing with Center, Directorate, Program Office, and other security-related agencies supporting AFNWC acquisition and operational activities.

DUTIES:
  • Architect Innovative Policy:  Serve as the senior Subject Matter Expert, researching, developing, and recommending groundbreaking corporate practices and processes to modernize our security posture.
  • Command Full-Spectrum Security:  Direct operations across a massive multidisciplinary landscape, including Physical, Personnel, Information, Industrial, Operations (OPSEC), and Communications Security (COMSEC), as well as Antiterrorism and Force Protection.
    Defend Elite Programs:  Provide uncompromising security management and support for the organization's critical mission, classified facilities, and material.  
  • Drive Core Security Operations:  Oversee the essential generalized services that keep the workforce moving, including personnel clearance management, high-impact security training, and rapid security incident response.

SKILLS:
  • Candidates should have demonstrated experience in Information Security.
  • A broad technical background and related AF operational and acquisitions experience is desired, with experience in operations, research, analysis, and developmental planning.
  • Ability to solve problems through innovative approaches is required.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels as well as the independence, assertiveness, self-reliance, and tenacity to get the job done, is a must.
  • Application of critical thinking skills, risk management, configuration management, and decision analysis.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION (not all-inclusive):
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be eligible and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with multiple security disciplines and demonstrate expertise in security program management.  
  • Knowledge of government contractual practices and requirements for development and purchase of Air Force acquisition programs and/or supporting programs/projects is required; familiarity with Defense Industrial Base security organization, operations, and management practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge in program protection, physical, system, information, industrial, personnel, communication, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices with collateral, and SCI programs and able to plan, implement, and integrate security programs in these areas is highly desired. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Air Force Acquisition Enterprise missions, functions, and structure to ensure effective implementation of oversight of security program concepts, principles, and practices is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for assigned area is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, are mandatory.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with leadership, coworkers, and customers, contribute to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission is required.
  • Knowledge of nuclear system military standards and governing documents is highly desirable.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employees must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre‐employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • This position may require up to 10% travel.
  • "Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative."
