Air Force announces senior leader changes Published Nov. 19, 2010 Air Force Materiel Command Public Affairs Report WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force announced Nov. 18, 2010, the reassignment of Brig. Gen. Everett H. Thomas, commander of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force Materiel Command, to vice commander at Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. Brig. Gen. Garrett Harencak, currently principal assistant deputy administrator for Military Application, Office of Defense Programs, National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., will replace General Thomas as commander of the AFNWC. General Thomas has commanded an Air Force station, a space launch squadron, a missile operations group and a space wing. He's held staff assignments as an executive Officer to the Vice Commander, Air Force Space Command, and as an assistant executive officer to the Air Force Vice Chief of Staff. He has also served as Assistant Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs, Africa, and International Negotiations, on the Joint Staff. General Harencak currently assists in directing the Stockpile Stewardship Program, which is responsible for maintaining the safety, security and reliability of the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile.
