Nuclear weapons interns graduate into permanent jobs

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Several civilian interns recently graduated from their training with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

Under the Air Force Civilian Intern Program, 24 interns were recognized for successfully completing a two- or three-year program of on-the-job training, professional and personal development, and service opportunities for the center’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Systems Directorate.

“We have an outstanding group of Palace Acquire graduates this year,” said Col. Luke Cropsey, ICBM Systems director. “We’re looking forward to them joining us permanently in their areas of expertise in support of our critical nuclear weapons programs.”

Headquartered at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, the AFNWC is responsible for synchronizing all aspects of nuclear materiel management on behalf of Air Force Materiel Command, in direct support of Air Force Global Strike Command. The center has about 1,100 personnel, both military and civilian, assigned to 18 locations worldwide.

The ICBM Systems Directorate is principally located at Hill AFB and is responsible for inception-to-retirement, integrated weapons system management of the Minuteman III (LGM-30) ICBM and its future replacement, the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent. Its personnel develop, acquire and support silo-based ICBMs, providing acquisition, systems engineering and logistics support, as well as depot repair.
